Norotshama Camp, Fish River Canyon Namibia

Norotshama Camp, near the C13, is a huge table grape farming operation, who has decided to use their location next to the Orange River to establish a tourism business.

They are well placed for such an operation, since they are also situated in the Aussekehr Nature Reserve.

Their facilities includes camping sites, bungalows, a restaurant and two beautiful 4X4 eco routes, which many people feel they charge a bit much for. Something we agree to. The routes are beautiful, but not that beautiful.

Their camping facilities also were not that good, being a bit on the small side, with little shade and easily overcrowded due to the small camping sites.

One also wonders why the camping sites could not have been built on the riverbank for that wonderful view over the river.

While the visit to Norotshama was OK, one gets the feeling that the tourism part of the business is actively playing second fiddle to the farming enterprise, since the other tourism businesses in the area offers so much more.
