Koppieskraal Guest Farm

Koppieskraal is a unique holiday farm where one may stay over on the way to the Rietfontein border post with Namibia, or you may decide to spend a day or two to try the activities. These activities include the camel rides, camping on the Pan, camping between the rocks at the "Lost City" or wild camping on a kopje overlooking the pan. Each of these choices a unique experience!

The camps on the pan and at the 'Lost City" have basic camping facilities like a long drop, but the one on the kopje is totally devoid of any facilities. The only one group per campsite allowed policy ensures privacy for each group, since the three campsites are very far apart.

These camps are ideal for a family get-together or a larger adventurous group who wants to spend a very enjoyable time in the wild. Singles and couples are of course also very welcome. We always had the feeling that it is very safe here, since it is so far away from a town or a city.

Other activities include among others, mountain biking trails, bird watching, moonlight dinners on the pan, which we did not try, but it should be something to remember. Wait till next time.

Then, at Inkbospan, some 25 kilometer away, they offer two self catering units without electricity, with the lighting provided by solar power. Water is warmed by use of the famous "donkey" system that one so often find in Africa.

Lastly, we want to mention the friendly service we received here. Also the beautiful venison we bought at very good prices. It was just such a pity we were on our way to Namibia and not sure whether they will allow meat to cross into their country, otherwise we would have stocked up for the entire tour!

We recommend Koppieskraal Guest Farm for an adventurous stayover as well as a longer visit.
