Camping Sites and Caravan Stands in Southern Africa

Baberspan Bird Sanctuary has camping sites available along the angling shore. Six people are allowed per site. Four ablution blocks with basic facilities are available with eco-toilets, showers and hand basins. No warm water. No electricity. On the northern side in the birding area is a newly developed camping area (for tents) just north of guest houses, with electricity and good ablution facilities.

Pigmy Lodge has a caravan park.

Rapoeli Accommodation also offers camping and caravanning facilities.

Marico Bushveld Caravan park lies close to town Marico, in the Central Region of the North West Provine. The Central Region with its wide open plains and scrubby bushveld offers visitors a place for total relaxation.

Sallileni also has a caravan park.

Botsalano offers 28 caravan and camp sites with ablution facilities, situated at the main entrance gate. The Reserve is located in open Kalahari thornveld. An extensive network of roads, suitable for all types of vehicles, allows for game-viewing. Used as a gene pool for the breeding of antelope species and other mammals for the stocking of reserves throughout the North West Province. Mogabe Tented is being upgraded with Executive tents (all are en-suite).

The Mafikeng SCENE was born as part of a project to improve the natural surroundings of Mafikeng, and particularly the Molopo river. A highly effective facility was opened in 1999. The Mafikeng SCENE now consists of twenty campsites, a covered assembly area, workshop rooms, a dining room, kitchen, large ablution block, bunkrooms, a store, accommodation for a manager, caretaker and twelve volunteers or teachers.

Haunted Hotel Gasteplaas offers camping site and budget accommodation for small or large groups. Big solar heated swimming pool with imported rotating coloured lights in the water (only one in North West), lapa seats 300 people, lovely atmosphere. Big music property suitable for large music festival. Bonfires (not allowed in town), firework displays, dancing pool partie,s beauty competitions, teambuilding. Rural atmosphere. 10 minutes from Mafikeng on main Johannesburg/Lichtenburg road.

The Education centre also has camp sites with electricity available.

Motswiri Lodge offers a rustic bush camp with five private bush camp sites. A fully equipped communal kitchen with a gas stove and fridge is available. Cooking can be done on the gas stove or by open fire in the boma. Ambient lighting is by means of paraffin lamps, which create an intimate and cosy feel. Hot water is provided by "donkey", and a communal bathroom with shower and flush toilet is provided. Chalets also available. Game drives and bird watching.
