To Madala Dune Lodge
When we left Twee Rivieren, we were aiming the Molopo Nature Reserve. We filled up Coggi's tank at Askham. We were a bit apprehensive to take tha Van Zylsrus road because we heard from locals and otehrs taht the road was very bad. Having driven some of the worst roads in Southern Africa, we however found this one quite surprisingly good, and driving maybe a bit too fast for our deflated tyres. We had a flat tyre, it was quite hot.

Our trip report
When we left Twee Rivieren, we were aiming to reach the Molopo Nature Reserve. We filled up Coggi's tank at Askham. We were a bit apprehensive to take the Van Zylsrus road because we heard from locals and others that the road was very bad. Having driven some of the worst roads in Southern Africa, we however found this one quite surprisingly good, and driving maybe a bit too fast for our deflated tyres. We had a flat tyre, it was quite hot. The sand was burning our feet when we got out to fix the tyre. We also had trouble with the jack pushing into the sand until we managed to find a suitable stone to put under the jack. We removed the spare wheel only to find that it was also flat, but we could inflate it with our compressor which we always have with us. We were just busy fixing the spare wheel to the vehicle, when two guys stopped and enquired if they could help. One fitted the wheel whilst we pumped the wheel. We could offer them each avery cold beer out of our Engel fridge - to their astonishment - to get such a cold beer under such hot, dusty conditions.
