Description: Akademie Street Guesthouses in Franschoek are different in that they offer five star guest house accommodation in three totally separate and unique guesthouses. Despite their differences, each guesthouse is adjacent to the next and all are situated in a quiet area in the heart of the Cape Winelands village of Franschhoek. Each of our Franschoek Guesthouses has a special name, Oortuiging (Conviction), Vreugde (Joy) and Gelatenheid (Equanimity) and each Franschhoek guest house joins on to pathways leading through lush gardens to the main house where breakfast is served under a vine covered patio or in the Cape Dutch home called Twyfeling (Doubting). Description: Auberge Bligny has a long history, begining in the small village Bligny, France, just south of Beaune. Its story goes hand in hand with that of Franschhoek and starts approximately 300 years ago. Huguenot Jean Blignaut's surname means "from Bligny", a tiny village in France, hence the name of the Blignaut family's Guesthouse: Auberge Bligny. The 1860 Victorian homestead (in the historic centre of the village) has been converted into a guesthouse over a decade ago and is owner managed. The rooms are furnished not with things new or `cottagy', but with pieces reminding of days gone by in the house.
