Apart from its popular name "The Platinum Province," the North-West could have been christened "The Province of Five." Across its five regions, from the east, where the tourist can luxuriate at the Five-star Sun City Hotel, to the west, where the aspirant hunter can track down the Big Five, the North-West has much to offer. With bushveld in the east, extending into semi-desert plains in the west, the province's natural treasures include The Groot Marico, The Hartbeespoort Dam and the large Madikwe and Pilanesberg Game Reserves. Five tourism regions have been identified for the province: Bophirima, Central Region, Eastern Region, Rustenburg Region and the Southern Region. |
