Description: Lesotho is a world without fences. Breathtaking scenery abounds and every season has unique attractions. Malealea Lodge is run by the owners, Mick & Di Jones, both born in Lesotho and credited with more local knowledge than anyone. Various Basotho Children's choirs and a Local Basotho Band, using their local home-made instruments, entertain the guests in the evenings around a campfire. Malealea outings range from 1 hour to 6 days or longer...tailor-made to your requirements. Our treks are usually about 7 hours each day, no riding experience is necessary all the huts and horses are hired from the Basotho people in Lesothos's remote areas. The huts are very basic and are equipped with a gas cooker, cooking & eating utensils and mattresses on the floor. On trek you experience "THE REAL AFRICA"; The trails traverse spectacular mountain passes and some of Lesotho's highest waterfalls exploring Bushman paintings and experiencing "Basotho culture". Description: At Mmelesi Lodge the bedrooms lying behind the main building have been architecturally designed in the Mokhoro or Rondavel style. Each bedroom is fully furnished and contains a double bed (with space for an extra bed if required); it has been designed in traditional manner. Rest rooms in attractive colours which emphasizes space colour and comfort. We have twenty seven (27) rooms in all. They are also luxurious and the needs of the guest have been given top priority. En suite, private bath with hand shower with plenty of hot water. External telephone lines, TV and heater for those chilly winters. Guest vehicles are well protected.

Description: Affectionately called "Ha Baseane" by the Basotho after John Thorn, who established Roma Trading Post in 1903 and lived here until his death in 1957. Today the 4th generation of Thorns grow up in this scenic place among the rocky foothills of the Maloti Mountains. Donkeys are still herded daily to the store, bringing grain for grinding. Cattle and pigs and chickens roam freely among the blanket clad horsemen. The Trading Post offers bed and breakfast, other meals by prior arrangement.
