Ongongo Hotsprings to Palmwag Camp
Palmwag Lodge is situated on the Uniab River in northwest Damaraland – a vacation opportunity with a difference. Waving palms whispering in the wind, spectacular surroundings which harbour the famous desert elephant, the rare black rhino, giraffe, zebra, gemsbok and many other wild animal species, sunsets to dream of – this is Palmwag Lodge, one of Namibia’s oldest and most popular tourist rendezvous.
The lodge offers 30 beds in 2-3-bed thatched bungalows, and 10 beds in luxury en-suite tents, 8-bed family unit (child friendly), a fully licensed restaurant, swimming pool under shady palms, and a very cozy 'pool bar' and lapa. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered daily.
The well laid-out hiking trails let you enjoy and discover the neighbouring nature. With early booking, they offer guided full day excursions as well as overnight safaris through the breathtaking landscapes of the Damaraland.
The Lodge is accessible via good gravel roads - from Kamanjab via the C40; from Khorixas via the C39; or from Swakopmund on the C35 via Uis continuing on the D2612 past Twyfelfontein, on the C34 and C39 via Henties bay, the Skeleton Coast Park.
The lodge is also accessible by small aircraft - 800m gravel airstrip. The co-ordinates are: 19°52’54”S- 13°56’46”E.
To cater for the needs of campers and day visitors, the thatched pool bar under the palm trees at the swimming pool, where light meals and most drinks are available, is opened daily from mid morning until approximately 22h00.
Please take note that entry into the surrounding private concession area is by valid permit only, which should be obtained at the Palmwag Lodge reception before entry into the area (which includes the Hoanib River).
