The Ngorongoro Crater Camp perches on the rim valley of a dramatic spectacle - the Ngorongoro Crater. Spectacular scenery and large trees surround this intimate camp.
This small year-round camp comprises of only 10 classic safari room tents, all with en-suite bathrooms with indoor bucket showers and other amenities that make a tented camp an authentic safari experience. Enjoy the enchantment of the camp delivered with understated charm and deep understanding of this amazing area.
The densely populated crater houses an estimated number of 30,000 animals. Supported by a year-round supply of water and food, the crater can house a massive variety of animals, including its impressive population of predators, namely lion, hyena, jackal, cheetah and the elusive leopard.
The dominant species are the lion, rhino, hippo, wildebeest, zebra, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, crocodile, and flamingo (seasonal).
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The central feature of the site is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. The crater is 610 metres deep, and its floor covers 260 square kilometres. The area spans vast expanses of highland plains, savanna, savanna woodlands and forests.
The camp, being close to the access road, gives guests excellent access to the crater floor. Our safari game drives are lead by highly qualified guides in closed 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles.
We conduct full day game drives, in the Ngorongoro Crater and on the rim, departing early morning and returning late afternoon - while spotting the huge variety of animals that have made this area so very famous.
We offer only one crater game drive per stay. If guests are staying for two nights, we will provide a Lake Manyara National Park game drive on the second day.
Guests may also enjoy cultural activities in a nearby Maasai village. Learn more about these fascinating people and their day to day life.
Ten classic safari room tents supply guests with comfortable accommodation. Each room tent has its en-suite bathroom and indoor bucket shower. Hair dryers and plug points are also available. A personal tent attendant is ready to fill the bucket shower to the perfect temperature whenever required. Guests may choose to enjoy early morning coffee and biscuits, or spend some private time in the small sitting area in front of each of the tents.
The camp is available on a shared basis; we will, however, accept bookings for exclusive use of the camp in which case eight of the ten rooms must be booked and paid for in advance.
The main guest areas consist of a dining area where scrumptious meals are served, a lounge area perfect for relaxation, and lounge bar where pre-dinner drinks are served. Besides, guests may sit and soak up the surrounding area on comfortable sofas and umbrellas which our staff place in specific spots with excellent views.
We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in buffet style in the camp. Breakfast is served before the game activity. For a more intimate experience, we place our table settings in spots around the camp with unique viewpoints, overlooking the action below. Romantic private dinners can be arranged upon request.

The dramatic backdrop, together with the wealth and variety of its wildlife - some 30,000 animals - makes the crater one of the most astonishing locations for a camp.
