Spitzkoppe to Windhoek

Windhoek is the capital of Namibia. Located in the Khomas Region, it has a population of about 230,000.

Pulsing with life, opportunity and a spark of adventure, Windhoek is a multicultural city characterised by tranquil co-existence and enough lebensraum for all its citizens.

Visitors can enjoy the best of both worlds like the more European-style culture and comforts offered in the city, to the vivid drumbeats of Africa in its environs.

Windhoek was originally inhabited by the Herero, then became the centre of a Namas. Germany occupied the region in 1885, and it became the seat of colonial rule in 1892, as the capital of the colony of German South-West Africa.

Windhoek is one of the cleanest and most secure capitals on the African continent and welcomes both international and domestic visitors.

Accommodation in the city ranges from 4-star hotels to comfortable pensions, and there are excellent restaurants, pavement cafes, beergardens, and nightclubs.

Windhoek has two airports. Eros for smaller craft and Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport for big aircraft.
