Trip II (2012) Strandfontein to Namakwa National Park Coastal Section - 158km 3 to 4 hours.

Today's ride is not long if you are in a hurry, but nature lovers will be tempted many times to stop and have a look. Maybe even getting out of the vehicle to investigate. This route should not be attempted without a 4x4 with low range, since there are several places where deep sand will bog you down.

Towns Passed

Lutzville, a wine, fruit and vegetales producing town. This town has some good shops and one can stock up for the time ahead. So, if you are planning to stay for a week or two, Lutzville is a good place to buy everything you need.

Namakwa National Park Coastal Section This is a new development by Sanparks along the West Coast which promises to become a haven for nature lovers. The coast can be explored by a road parallel to the coast with side roads leading to the several bays where camping facilities have been erected against the seawind which normally become calm after sunset.

Personally, I think this is a very good develpoment in an area where the flora is astonishingly beautiful and with the fauna being replaced by Sanparks, the place can be restored to its original splendour.
