From Namwi Island to Camp Kwando, Caprivi

Camp Kwando is on the banks of the Kwando River, in a beautiful area: The Caprivi. The Camp is located about 100km from Katima Mulilo (via the B8), at the junction of Botswana, Zambia, Angola and Zimbabwe.

Camp Kwando is sandwiched between the Botswana border to the west and the Mudumu National Park to the east. Eight thatched chalets line the bank of a small island in the Kwando River and there are three up-market tree houses on higher ground. The island chalets have open-air bathrooms with hot showers and flushing toilets and you can fish from your balcony. While hurricane lamps set the mood, the lush African bush will do all the seducing. Although similar, the tree houses ups the ante in the style, romance and view departments.

A camping area with ten sites makes good use of the shaded area between lodge and island. Facilities include communal ablutions with hot showers, and a laundry and scullery area.

Despite the civilising effects of a well-tended lawn and a grand entrance, Camp Kwando remains friendly and remote.
