Aughrabies to Ai-Ais
Thermal water with a temperature of approx 60°C, flows from the springs of Ai-Ais. In the Nama language, "Ai-Ais" means "water that burns ".
The thermal baths at Ai-Ais is a popular attraction, especially during the winter months. There are indoor pools with various water temperatures and an outdoor pool.
Ai-Ais also has a restaurant, a petrol station and an outside swimming pool, a playground and tennis courts.
From May to August, Ai-Ais marks the finishing point for the famous hiking trip through the Fish River Canyon. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, one can also see a rich variety of wildlife. One have to be very fit to do this hike.
Ai-Ais is closed over the summer, from November to mid-March, as this area is just too hot and dry during that time.
The lookout points for the Fish River Canyon are not far from Ai-Ais.
During times when Ai-Ais is closed, one may find accommodation at Hobas.
