Description: Spend a Night in the Old Jail in Philippolis. The jail was built in 1872 in Philippolis, the oldest "nedersetting" (1823) in the Free State. The Jail has for all practical purposes been left in as close to original state as possible. Accommodation is individual "cells" 7' x 10' (2m x 3m) with 24' (60cm) outer walls, and 18" (45cm) inner walls. (Cool in summer - Warm in winter). Very heavy and sturdy wood and steel doors.
